What advice that you received as a shopkeeper or learned from trial and error - would you like to pass on to someone else? *

I think the most helpful piece of advice was not to be too easily discouraged, to experiment and to keep adding new products.

I think with the modern obsession with instant success it can be hard sometimes to slow down and give a business time to grow. The internet lulls shopkeepers into the belief that a business is easy to run and that customers are just waiting to leap at your products.

Patience however is a key element to success. You have to find your market and give potential customers time to get to know that you are not just going to disappear overnight. People in general like to browse a bit before they commit to a purchase so give it time.

How often do you add new products or designs? *
Several times a week, but not every day
If you came into $100,000 tomorrow what would you do with it? *
I would buy a new camera and then arrange to do some travelling to take lots and lots of photos.

I might even do something sensible with the rest.
What is the last product you added to your store? *
What would you do if you saw an actor on TV wearing one of your shirts, or one of your products on the set of a popular Tv show or movie? *
Once I'd stopped running around I'd ring my mum. Then I would be tweeting the world. I would be so happy :)
Do you have any formal art or computer training? *
Yes, art & computer
What programs do you use to create your designs? What do you like about them? *
I use Photoshop.

As a photographer I like to make as little changes as possible to the photograph as taken other than a few tweaks to exposure and contrast. The camera raw component of photoshop allows me to do all this non-destructively to the original image.

As a digital artist I appreciate the comprehensiveness of the tools available with photoshop and the wealth of free tutorials that artists have made available for learning to get the best out of this particular package.

When I'm not photographing landscapes, I enjoy going to gigs and photographing them.

I cycled from Lands End to John O' Groats (the length of the UK) in 1986.

I visited the Tour de France cycle race in the Alps and Pyrenees every year from 1991-2001, taking photographs and cycling over the mountain passes.

This mug - http://www.zazzle.com/box_of_chocolates_mug-168088019873086382 - is my favorite product in my store for a few different reasons; the first being that it was my very first design I posted, second I have quite the love affair with chocolate and come from a long line of chocoholics! Third, pink and brown is one of my favorite color combinations (as is very obvious in my store!) and last, I love the saying I chose to go with it. It's just common knowledge, right? Chocolate IS a girl's best friend!

What advice that you received as a shopkeeper or learned from trial and error - would you like to pass on to someone else? *
Do not give up. Even if things are slow at the beginning, use the time to fix up your store. And one of the things I have learned, Make sure you understand tagging and descriptions correctly before creating a ton of products or else you will be like me with a ton of products that don't sell and you have to use your time to fix it all up.
How often do you add new products or designs? *
Every day
If you came into $100,000 tomorrow what would you do with it? *
I would pay off my debts, take a vacation and use the rest to move elsewhere.
What is the last product you added to your store? *
What would you do if you saw an actor on TV wearing one of your shirts, or one of your products on the set of a popular Tv show or movie? *
Probably faint and upon recovering, tell everybody I know, and then order the same shirt for me.
Do you have any formal art or computer training? *
Yes, computer only
What programs do you use to create your designs? What do you like about them? *
Gimp, because it's free.
Paint tool Sai, because of their zoom, their lineart tool, and their rotate tool.
Photoimpact for lighting and effects.
Photoscape for effects.
Photofilter for their zooming on target with a scroll of the mouse and cropping.

I use many more programs that are too numerous to count but on most of my recent artwork, they have been touched by these 4 programs.

What advice that you received as a shopkeeper or learned from trial and error - would you like to pass on to someone else? *
My advice to other shopkeepers is to always make sure you have awesome product titles, descriptions and tags. Make that your focus from the get go! That way you do not have to go back and edit hundreds of descriptions. Save yourself the hassle.
How often do you add new products or designs? *
Several times a week, but not every day
If you came into $100,000 tomorrow what would you do with it? *
I'd hire someone to help me catch up with putting products on Zazzle. I love creating new designs but get bored with the process of adding new products to my stores.
And shoes...buy several pairs of new shoes.
What is the last product you added to your store? *
What would you do if you saw an actor on TV wearing one of your shirts, or one of your products on the set of a popular Tv show or movie? *
After the fainting and happy dancing, I would probably feel the need to tell a few people about it. On my website, Facebook, Twitter, standing on a street corner with a megaphone.
Do you have any formal art or computer training? *
No, I taught myself
What programs do you use to create your designs? What do you like about them? *
I like GIMP because it's free. I will eventually upgrade to Photoshop and Illustrator but for now, the free versions of this software work fine.
I am also a big fan of ArtRage. I'm still just playing around with it but will soon start adding artwork made with this program. I love all of the different mediums (paint, glitter, pastel) you can use.

1. Keep adding product every day.
2. Review your descriptions and tags on older postings and update as necessary. Remove inappropriate tags. Update with newer terminology that you may have come across.
3. Check the bottom of the Zazzle page for BLOG and TAGS something may trigger updates for your listings.
How often do you add new products or designs? *
Every day
If you came into $100,000 tomorrow what would you do with it? *
I would take half of it to pay down my mortgages. With the other half, I would take a much needed vacation. Of course, I would take photos on this vacation, that I would be able to add to more products on Zazzle!
What is the last product you added to your store? *
What would you do if you saw an actor on TV wearing one of your shirts, or one of your products on the set of a popular Tv show or movie? *
I would probably yell out loud, then post something in the forum about it.
I would then contact my siblings to let them know that I was "famous".
I should then contact the station to see what I could get in way of a promotional clip/photo to use in my selling program.
Do you have any formal art or computer training? *
Yes, computer only
What programs do you use to create your designs? What do you like about them? *
I mostly use Photoshop Elements and Corel Draw. I use these to manipulate the photographs that I take. I have also used some of their tools to create non-photo products.

First of all Zazzle is not a get rich quick scheme, it takes a lot of hard work to succeed.

Second produce good quality products and pay attention to the tags you use. A good tag can get you noticed.
