| What advice that you received as a shopkeeper or learned from trial and error - would you like to pass on to someone else? * | Use as many free services as possible. Use Squidoo.com and make lenses. Use Facebook. Blog, Tweet, etc. Go to forums and contribute something BEFORE you mention your shops. Let people get to know you, then they will trust you, otherwise they thing you joined their forum just to sell your stuff. People do not like to be used. Do not use them. Buy domains for your shops, "www.yourshop.com" is easier for customers to remember than "www.zazzle.com/yourshop". Buy your own stuff and wear it. Make business cards for yourself, carry them and when people ask where you got your shirt, give them a card. |

| Pay the taxes, first, there goes about 40%, if it's lotto or gift. If it is from sales, I have to pay another 15.33% for social security self-employment. That would leave about $45,000. Probably give $4500 to various charities. That leaves $40,500. We need our kitchen and bathroom redone. Got a guy that will do it all for $15,000. That leaves $25,500. We need new sliding doors and windows. LOOOOONG story but they have to be custom made. Will cost $15,000. That leaves $10,500. Since we got this far with the house, might as well get new carpet and paint. About $7500. That leaves $3000. Still need a hybrid car. Guess I better keep designing? | |
